Additional Background

Though the United States Air Force had a long history of being a launch operator, using procured rockets, today the United States Space Force (like the United States Air Force before it) has transitioned to using commercial launch service providers for all of its launch services. As with the US civilian space agency, NASA, the United States Space Force have moved entirely to a services model for launch services, it continues to be an operator of many of its spacecraft (all uncrewed).

One of the significant contributions the Space Force continues to make to the space industry are maintaining its (historic) ranges. Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg spaceports were once a centers of ballistic missile development, during the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States - today they are centers of innovation and development of a nascent commcercial space services industry.
