Additional Background

Construction at the site began in 2015, when soil was piled to surcharge the site's otherwise soft soil conditions, with test flights beginning in 2019. The spaceport includes production facilities for building Starship and SuperHeavy, testing and check-out facilities, and both a suborbital and orbital launch site. The site is near Boca Chica, Texas, United States, not far from the US-Mexico border.
