Additional Background

Up for four modules from Axiom would compose a private segment on the International Space Station, including a two habitat modules, research module, power module to support a solar array, an Earth observatory. Thales Alenia Space is producing the modules, and has begun work on the first habitat module; first launch of hardware is expected in 2026.

While initially attached to the International Space Station, the long-term plan would be to separate the Axiom Orbital Segment before the de-orbit of the International Space Station.
