Axiom Space was founded as founded to deliver the world's first commercial space station. The CEO of the company has unique experience, having been program manager of the International Space Station.
The company is currently working on its first orbital module, being produced by Thales Alenia Space. This module will be attached to the International Space Station (along with other modules) to serve as an Axiom-managed private segment of modules on the station, before serving as a free-flying anchor for their own space station when the International Space Station is retired. This will be the first full commercial module added to the International Space Station (following the first fully-commercial component: Nanorack's 'Bishop' airlock). In the interim, Axiom is facilitating both private and governmental flights to the International Space Station, travelling there on services provided by SpaceX's Crew Dragon. Unrelated to these other core lines-of-business, Axiom is also delivering new lunar surface space suits for NASA, as part of the Artemis program.
