For those unfamiliar, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the name for the entire defense establishment of the People's Republic of China. The People's Liberation Army Strategic Support Force is the branch of the force which encompasses space operations.
One of the significant contributions the People's Liberation Army Strategic Support Force continues to make to the space industry are maintaining its (historic) ranges. These spaceports were once a centers of ballistic missile development and early national interest satellite launches - today they support one of the world's most significant space programs and a nascent commercial launch services industry.
