Additional satellite for the Japanese military's X-band DSN satellite communications network. The satellites are manufactured by the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, basing them on the DS2000 satellite bus.
The Japanese military, through the purpose-created DSN Corporation, operates a small X-Band communications satellite constellation. This launch will add a third satellite to this constellation.
The H-III launched without issue, placing DSN-3 in a geostationary transfer orbit.
