Built from scratch by the State of Alaska, it began operations in 1998. Since its inception it has largely supported military launches for the US Air Force and the US Missile Defense Agency., before beginning commercial launches for Astra in 2018. The site includes launch sites, an integration site with cleanrooms, and launch control faciliies.
