Operated by Space Cotan Co., Ltd. in partnership with the Taiki town municipal government, Hokkaido Spaceport provides access to polar and sun-synchronous orbits from a coastal site on the North Pacific Ocean. Anchor tenants include Japanese space agency JAXA and Japanese launch services provider Interstellar Technologies.

History

The spaceport was opened in April 2021. Balloon operations started the following year. Launch Site construction began in 2022, with engine tests by Intstellar Technologies in 2023, and suborbital launches of varying size in early 2024.
