History

Organized in 1948, when what is now Algeria was a part of France. It was originally organized in 1947 for use by the French Army, but turned over to the French Air Force in the following year. Two pads were constructed between 1949 and 1952. More followed after that. In 1967, as part of the withdrawal of the French military and administration from Algeria, the French withdrew and left the facility to the Algerian government.
