The Brazilian military organized this spaceport to add capacity to the country's launch infrastructure. The site includes a single launch site, integration and payload processes facilities, a mobile assembly tower (designed for their VLS launcher series), control facilities, and a runway 2600 meters long. No orbital launchers currently operate from the site.
Originally organized in 1982 to augment an existing Brazilian spaceport (Barreira do Inferno Launch Center), it has seen limited activity since - though it has been actively seeking customers to utilize its facilities. Notable providers who have launched from this spaceport include Innospace, with a suborbital rocket, in 2023.
